Our country is in a world of hurt right now. Kids are shooting kids. Adults are shooting kids. The income divide is growing each day. Minimum wages are so low that it is impossible for some parents to work only one job in order to provide for their family. College graduates are entering the work force with more debt than ever before and it’s only getting worse.

Politicians (including activists) have a lot of ideas out there. Change the gun laws. Raise minimum wage. Offer more entitlement programs. Extend entitlement programs. The idea behind all of this is the Golden Rule. Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. I can’t say that I disagree with the golden rule. US Suffering If your child was murdered in cold blood, would you want everything done possible to prevent another school shooting? Of course you would. If you were laid off from work today, and had no other way of providing food for your family, would you want government assistance? Of course you would. If you graduated from college would you want to keep more money that you earn? Of course you would. If you had to work two or three jobs to provide for you family, would you prefer to only work just one job? Of course you would.

There is nothing wrong with any of that. Except one thing. Education is not part of the solution.

Education is everything. When our country gets serious about mental illness we are going to see change. When our country really gets serious about stopping bullying (at work, home, school, online – EVERYWHERE) we are going to see some changes. When our country gets serious about taking ownership about your own career path and not putting promotions, career development, ongoing education into the hands of other people. We are going to see some serious changes. When this country gets serious about teaching and living conservative personal financial education – we are going to see some changes. When we get serious about taking ownership about taking back our country and taking personal ownership of the problems in our own communities – we are going to see some changes.

But we can’t get serious until we know what to be serious about. And that is where education comes into play.

Do you know everything about mental illness? How it impacts others? How to spot the signs of it? How to treat it? What kind of doctor to go to? Do you know your owns states gun safety laws? Do you know how to disassemble a gun? Do you know how to store a gun? How to conceal a gun? How to load a gun and keep a bullet out of the chamber? Do you know how to talk to your children and stay informed about what is going on in their lives? Do you know how to get a GED? Do you know how to get started with a GED? Do you know where to go for ongoing education? Do you know what it takes to get a promotion in your company? Do you know what skills and traits employers are looking for in management positions? Do you know where to get that education? Do you know how to create a budget? Do you know how to live on cash alone? Do you know how to balance a check book РEVERY DAY? Do you know to make a spending a plan,  savings plan? Do you know how to sacrifice the things you want to day, for the things you need tomorrow?

Well do you? Have you ever asked?

In the words of the late  and great Bernie Mac- WAKE UP AMERICA!!!

Lets ask the questions that give the answers that will educate us, all of us. The longer our minds are impoverished, the longer our country will suffer. One word will solve all of our problems. That word is education.
